Corrosion Test Cabinets

ControlArt AB provides a standard test bench in three base models TC 210, TC 215 and TC 220. Under test standards a table is provided that shows which the various models can handle.

We manufacture and sell the original test cabinet where for instance the Volvo ACT and VICT together with the new Volvo/Ford test methods has been developed, see test standards. In the TC 220 version of our test cabinet there is also a possibility to obtain freezing down to -20 °C which enables to run test of the new German N-VDA (VDA 233-102) method. A new salt spray rig is also giving a possibility to run test according to the French ECC1 test method and other methods that is using salt fog. The cabinet is provided with automatic mixing systems.

The test cabinet provides a unique and even test conditions over the whole test plane which is two square meters large. This is unique for this type of  test equipment and makes it possible to do development testing with large series of samples with minimal scatter in the results originating from the test equipment itself.With the use of test stands from ControArt AB its possible to test as many as 360 test panels simultaneously, with a dimension of 100*200mm.


The accuracy of control for both temperature and relative humidity in the test plane is unique. This is true even if salt (NaCl) is accumulated in the test area. Passing the point of deliquescing is normally very difficult when the test cabinet has a full load of samples. Our design makes this to an easy task. 

Since the first test cabinet was produced in the middle of the 1990s, a rigid experience has been built among our customers how the test cabinet has performed. 

All of the manufactured test cabinets are still being used so the lifetime of the test cabinets is not yet reached after more than 20 years of use.

Logger program

This is an example from one of our Cabinets running the ACT II test. If a more accurate view of how the regulations deviations are you can download an EXCEL file for this interval which is possible to do with the logger program itself. To download files for further analysis is possible with the loggerprogram.



It is also advisable to follow the test being performed by the logger program (delivered with the test cabinet) and monitoring of the rain parameters. Theres also a built in function to get a samples for determining the salt concentration and pH level. The logger program can also provide logged data of how the test has performed which can be useful when writing test reports.

If necessary, the following points are the only maintenance items required:

  • Regular change of wet wick every 2-4 week depending of the water quality being used
  • Checking and filling up the salt container with powder salt if needed, typically once a month
  • Control of the acid container with a fill up if needed, typically every sixth month

The test cabinets are equipped with:

  • Automatic rain mixing system according to the Volvo/Ford methods and also for the salt spray tests
  • Built in flushing system
  • Scrubber for cleaning the used outgoing salt mist air 
  • Logging system for  quality monitoring
